M/Y Snowbird is a gorgeous 39.7 meter new-build motor yacht launched in 2010 from pedigree Dutch builder Hakvoort Shipyard.

She is a collaboration featuring exterior styling and interior layout by Cor D. Rover, naval architecture by Azure Naval Architects, and interiors by David Ostrander and Michaela Reverberri.

Every aspect of the yacht’s design has been thought out to maximize onboard enjoyment, while immersing guests in surroundings rich in detail and luxurious features.

Upon arriving at the Passarelle, guests are greeted by an ample covered aft deck with built-in sofas, a bar, and loose teak furniture from Summit.

Moving forward through the power sliding doors, we enter the main salon which is a masterful mix of modern but timeless design. Blue is the predominant color here, invoking a feeling of calm and understated elegance. Flawless joinery in book-matched teak surrounds us with an espresso-stained mahogany sole, and suede headlining. Carpets are custom woven wool and mohair from Tai Ping, and built-in furniture pieces exhibit exotic inlaid Shagreen skins in ivory. The monumental Prussian Blue table lamps are from Christopher Spitzmiller, while upholstery fabrics are from Pierre Frey. The custom Zebra skin ottomans oppose a spectacular coffee table in Macassar Ebony that converts to an ottoman with the flip of the marble top.

Artwork throughout the boat has been sourced from around the world to showcase the very pinnacle of Blue-Chip Modern and Contemporary artists such as Warhol, Vicente, Francis, Motherwell, Aarons, De Kooning, Hofmann, Indiana, Noland, Lichtenstein, Kelly, Stella, Ruscha, and many others. Sculpture and objects throughout follow the same pedigree, with pieces ranging from rare artifacts dating back to 2000 BC, up to modern sculpture from the likes of Nevelson and others.

Foreward of the main salon, we find the main formal dining room with a silk and wool rug in shades of blue and ivory from The Rug Company, a custom teak, wenge and Mahogany dining table, and vintage dining chairs by Gio Ponti.

Moving to the forward main deck, we first encounter the dayhead which is clad in honey onyx.

We then arrive at the spacious full-beam owners suite and study. Upon entering the study we are greeted by teak and leather chairs from the venerable Hermes of Paris, a teak desk and chair by Eames, marble table by Mangiarotti, and an aubusson rug in a bold but subtle tone-on-tone blue herringbone. The color theme of this room is taken from artwork by Robert Motherwell in shades of blue and orange, recalling the vibrant palette of The Cote d’Azur. Custom bed linens of 1200 thread-count Egyptian Cotton, and her desk and makeup vanity all custom executed in teak. The owner’s dressing room features doors inlaid with orange Shagreen. The spacious and open master ensuite features his and her sinks, a toilet and bidet, and a large jacuzzi tub centered on the wall. Fixtures are by Dornbracht.

Proceeding to the lower-deck, we arrive at the guest accommodations. This area features a salon-style photography installation with the iconic photography of Slim Aarons depicting a myriad of indulgent and exotic scenes of “the good life” from around the world.

Forward are two twin staterooms that convert to doubles, each with a unique color scheme and custom fabrics. Aft, we have two VIP staterooms with king size berths, and again, unique color schemes and artwork. All are ensuite with marble bathrooms of calacutta gold with fixtures by Dornbracht. All guest ensuites feature bidets, while the two VIP’s feature baths.

Proceeding back up the spiral staircase connecting all three decks, we experience the inlaid abstract mural of backlit panels, inlaid leather, mahogany, teak, and capiz shell panels. As we arrive at the Skylounge Foyer, we have an onyx dayhead to our left, and the spacious full-beam skylounge to our right. This area is meant to be fun, but elegant- equally appropriate for movies with the family as it is for an elegant cocktail party.

Aft of the sky lounge is the semi-covered bridge-deck dining lounge. This alfresco dining and lounging space is furnished with gorgeous Summit teak furniture, and custom textiles from Maria Flora.

As we proceed upwards to the Sun Deck, we find four relaxing chaises, and a TechnoGym treadmill, weights, and yoga mat. This semi-covered area also boasts a rainshower in the hardtop, as well as a 6-8 person hot tub, a bar and BBQ, and dining for up to 20 people.

Snowbird has been conceived from inception as a world-class yacht that surpasses anything else in the 35-45 meter range both in quality and design, but also in entertainment options for all guests. The yacht boasts a sophisticated Crestron control system, as well as server-based media access in all staterooms and public spaces.

Snowbird also has a full host of water toys including a Fjord 36, a 430 DL Novurania tender, two Yamaha jet skis, a Yamaha stand-up jet ski, two SeaBobs, inflatables, SCUBA dive center and all gear, wakeboards, waterskis, wakeskate, wakesurf, tubes, etc…

All of these are accessible from the huge fold-down swim platform and beach club.
